Coventry City 3-2 Preston North End

Coventry City 3-2 Preston North End

GET THE F**K IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a win that was! Too score two goals in injury time or more commonly known as Fergie time is fantastic. I wasnt expecting it at Fred Lynn Jersey all but Im just over the moon we did it. One step closer to Wembley! Havent celebrated so much in my life at a home game! My mate Jake is a legend, he said before the game that Leon Clarke would get a 90th minute winner and he did! Bet hes gutted he didnt put a bet on!On to the game, Mark Robins made one change to the side that battled out against North London side Spurs at the weekend with John Fleck coming in for Franck Mou sa who dropped to the bench. The home side nearly went in front early on when Leon Clarke picked up a lobbed pa s and his shot was saved by Steve Simonsen who made himself big and put the new man off. City were dominating the chances with Gary McSheffrey shooting just wide of Andrelton Simmons Jersey the Preston goal after some good running by the Coventry born player. Leon Clarke then nearly became provider as his cro s from the left hand side flew past goal and just too much for the in rushing James Bailey. Preston might have dominated the po se sion stats but we were the only team going forward, the only thing that Preston did in the first half was push and kick at our players, very dirty team if you ask me! Thats probably why new striker Joe Garner was booked in the first half in what looked an elbow to me on Richard Wood. The away side were also called into an early change with Shane Cansdell-Sherriff coming off for Chris Robertson. Coventry should have been in front when some brilliant pa sing between the City midfield set Clarke loose but his shot fired anxiously wide and I think most of the stadium thought he had scored! Preston had there only real chance of the half and Garner fired into the side netting but that was about it for the away side. City got the first goal though and they deserved it just before half time, Carl Bakers free kick was flicked on by William Edjenguele with Steven Jennings poking home at the back post with the simplest of tap ins to send the majority of the crowd happy at half time. The official attendance was 12,665 with 485 being away, not a bad effort considering the game was on Skyplus cheap tickets. The second half began like the first; very scrappy with Coventry trying to play Clarke through all the time but the right ball wasnt being produced really. Both side brought on early substitutes with Bailey going off for Connor Thomas and Joel Byrom coming off for Jeffrey Monakana, I was a bit CJ Wilson Jersey hesitant as I have Monakana on my football manager and he is cla s, thankfully he didnt have a much impact game! I think we sat back a bit and Preston capitalised from a corner as Luke Foster headed home from close range. City thought theyd regained the lead soon after as William Edjenguele headed home but the flag was up. City took a more attacking approach with bringing on Franck Mou sa for Steven Jennings, Mou sa nearly made an a sist from his first touch as his header to Carl Baker set the Liverpudian down the right, flicking the ball past a defender and just smashing wide Shohei Ohtani Jersey of Simonsen goal after aiming for the far post. Lean Clarke nearly scored a tap in soon after as a low cro s was saved by Simonsen who got low down to stop it reaching a sliding Clarke. Captain Baker almost scored a screamer, his free kick rattling the cro sbar and out for a goal kick. I knew a goal was coming and what happened? Preston scored!!!! Sloppy play let the away side pick the ball up, Scott Beavon just outside of the box fired a shot in, unfortunately it hit of Richard Woods boot and wrong footed Joe Murphy and it just rolled into the net with the Irishman helple s to do anything. Soon after the Beavon went off and Andrew Proctor came on and McSheffrey came off for City being replaced by Stephen Elliot. Preston keeper Steve Simonsen went down just before injury time was to be shown injured, thankfully that worked in our favour as Mou sa cro s was picked up by Jordan Clarke who played a neat pa s to Baker and he fired a shot towards the near post and it ended up in the net! Straight after that we went down there end and got the winner, Baker power driver was too hot to handle for Simonsen who parried it straight to 3 city players with Leon Clarke smashing home in the 94th minute. Cut my leg celebrating that goal but it was worth it! I thought he would be offside but I havent seen it on TV yet, Anthony Rendon Jersey luckily I recorded it! Clarke was booked for taking his shirt off and chants of LEON LEON LEON LEON started. Fantastic comeback! Mark Robins is a god! Very sloppy but one step closer to Wembley! Now to concentrate on the League away to Carlisle Sunday PUSBMy leg! always do it celebrating!
