Stoke have completed the signings of Senegalese midfielder Amdy Faye from Charlton and also his compatriot centre back Abdoulaye Faye from Newcastle. Amdy, Laurie Boschman Jersey 31, joins on a one year contract for an undisclosed fee rumoured to be in the region of 1 million while 30 year old Abdoulaye has signed a three year deal for a fee of 2.25 million, subject to a work permit being given, which seems a formality. Amdy, who signs after a succe sful trial period is no stranger to Premier League football, having previously played at the top level for Portsmouth, Newcastle and Charlton Athletic. He spenta periodof last season on loan at Scottish giants Rangers where he made four appearances including one in the Champions League. The six foot tall defensive midfielder made his name at French side Auxerre, making 81 appearances and scoring three times between 1998 and 2003. The has been capped 18 times for his country, including a strong showing at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea, which attracted the attention of several clubs. Despite acquitting himself well at the Magpies, Abdoulaye, who can also play as a defensive midfielder was limitted to just 22 appearances last season, including one against Stoke in the FA Cup, scoring once Ben Chiarot Jersey , in a 5-1 defeat against Manchester United. Abdoulaye has been capped 14 times by Senegal, scoring three goals at international level. Unfortuanately, Abdoulaye will not be able to feature tomorrow. The two Fayes are differenttypes of signings for Stoke. Amdy will bring vast experience to the midfield, for a least a year but he will not, I wouldnt think always feature in a strating role. Abdoulaye will, surely play a huge role at the back for Stoke, probably alonside Ryan Shawcro s where his strength and commitment will certainly endear himself to fans and his characteristics have already attracted manager TonyPulis to him.
